REVIEW of TAIWAN KOM TOURS
‘Great!! Fantastic!! Mission Accomplished! My initial objective was to race the Taiwan KOM and finish within the 6.5hr time cut. Taiwan KOM Cycle Tours offered automatic entry to the Taiwan KOM event, plus gave me the opportunity to experience other amazing places. Lee was phenomenal with managing the tour logistics.

TOUR OVERVIEW:
To come all the way to Taiwan and ‘only’ do the Taiwan KOM route is a bit of a travesty! There is so much more to see on this incredible little island…
This tour packs in not just one but two of the truly great Big Climbs on the island, the Taraoko to Wuling route and also Tataka, both over 3,000m.
The beauty of riding the KOM route outside of the Taiwan KOM Challenge event is that you can really relax, as you are not in the middle of a very competitive race, and you can also take your time and enjoy much more deeply the true splendour of Taroko Gorge and the upper Alpine slope of this beautiful mountain.
On Day 1 you will be picked up at Taoyuan Airport and driven with your bike case to our hotel in Taipei. Those arriving in time can join us for a short, relaxed ride on the bike path that encircles Taipei. We leave our bike cases in Taipei.
Day 2 sees us whisked by van Taroko Gate, where we will get the bikes ready and have a very leisurely ride up the first 30km of the Gorge to our hotel, nestled in the jungle.
Day 3, we will take on the KOM Challenge route, each at their own pace, supported buy our professional guide and van support. The can will always be there for the whole tour in case needed.
Day 4 takes us from Re’nai Township, as we ride down the Aowonda Valley, inhabited mostly by Taiwan Aboriginal people, all the way down to the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, our home for two nights.
The next day, we have another great ride planned, around the lake and out through more stunning scenery, stopping in Jiqi Township for tea and cakes, then on back th the lake for lunch.
On Day 6 we ascend the mighty Tataka climb, 106km with 3560m of up. It’s steadier than the KOM climb, and beautiful too.
The final rides takes us from the summit of Alishan, the top of Tataka, down to rural Meishan Township. There’s still some climbing to be done over the 88km, though in total we will descend over 3000m, on beautiful farm roads through verdant jungle and farmland.
This tour has been designed to be as beautiful as possible and to get in as much elevation as possible over the 6 stages.
We strive to be exclusive, and on this tour as all our others, no one get left behind!
