THE MOUNTAIN GOATS TOUR / RIDE TO THE SKY & BEYOND

Seven days of glorious cycling up down and around the very best mountains that Taiwan has to offer, 600km and 17,000m!

We have two Mountain Goats tours this year:

MAY 24th – 30th

NOVEMBER 15th – 21st

We designed this tour to allow riders to allow them to cycle up the Taiwan KOM route at their leisure, not on the race day. This way people can relax and really take in the beauty of the Gorge. From then on it’s just super nice riding on routes I know very well, relatively car-free and stunning – with loads of elevation!

On Day 1 we get right into it, with a fantsatic 110km 2000m route that takes us the the summit of Yangmingshan National Park, over the iconic Balaka Climb and down a 22km descent, before we climb back over the famous Feng Gui Zui hill, and back to Taipei. We leave our bike cases in Taipei.

Day 2 sees us whisked by van to Qishingtan, start point of the KOM event, where we will get the bikes ready and have a very leisurely ride up the first 30km of the Gorge to our hotel, nestled in the jungle – still with 1300m climbing tho!

Day 3, we will take on the KOM Challenge route, each at their own pace, supported buy our professional guides and van support. The van will be there for the whole tour in case needed.

Day 4 takes us from Re’nai Township, as we ride down the Aowonda Valley, inhabited mostly by Taiwan Aboriginal people, all the way down to the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, our home for two nights.

The next day, we have another great ride planned, around the lake and out through more stunning scenery, stopping in Jiji Township for tea and cakes, then on back to the lake for lunch.

On Day 6 we ascend the mighty Tataka climb, 106km with 3560m of uphill. It’s steadier than the KOM climb, and very beautiful.

The final rides takes us from the summit of Alishan, the top of Tataka, down to rural Meishan Township. There’s still some climbing to be done over the 88km, though in total we will descend over 3000m, on beautiful narrow roads through verdant jungle and farmland.

This tour has been designed to take in the most beautiful spots and to get in as much elevation as possible over the 7 stages.

If keen, please get in touch, we only have a few spots left for each tour.
