To come all the way to Taiwan and ‘only’ do the Taiwan KOM route is a bit of a travesty! There is so much more to see on this incredible little island.

This tour packs in not just one but two of the truly great Big Climbs on the island, the Taraoko to Wuling route and also Tataka, both over 3,000m.

The beauty of riding the KOM route outside of the Taiwan KOM Challenge event is that you can really relax, as you are not in the middle of a competitive race, and you can also take your time and enjoy much more deeply the true splendour of Taroko Gorge and the upper Alpine slopes of this beautiful mountain.

From arrival the airport we take care of evrything and all you need to is ride and relax.

This tour has been designed to take in the most beautiful spots and to get in as much elevation (and some great descents!) as possible over the 7 stages.

WHO IS THS TOUR FOR

At 576km and just over 16,000m, you will need decent climbing legs. It is a challenging tour with the two big climbs and though the descents are not truly technical, there are a few of them. An ability to ride 70-100km per day for consecutive days is needed. This is not a race however, and we have all day to ride, and an ability to persevere is more important than an FTP of 450 watts! If that sounds like you, great!

DAY 1  /  Taipei - Su’Ao

Hotel Location: Taipei

Distance: 124m

Route: Taipei - Pinglin - Su’Ao

Grading: Middling to Challenging

Departure Time: Hotel Lobby, 8am

DAY 2  /  Taroko Gate & Taroko Gorge Recon Ride

Hotel Location: Taroko

Distance: 45km

Elevation: 1330m

Route: Taroko Gate - Taroko Gorge - Lakeshore Hualien Hotel

Grading: Moderate

Departure Time: Hotel Lobby 8:00am / 1 Hour transport to Taroko

DAY 3  / Taiwan KOM Route

Distance: 66km

Elevation: 3270m (total elevation) / Summit at 3250m

DAY 4 / Ren’ai to Sun Moon Lake

Route: Ren’ai then through Aowanda National Park to Sun Moon Lake

DAY 5  / Sun Moon Lake Loop

Route: SML to Jiji back to SML

DAY 6 / Tataka

DAY 7  / Descent to Meishan
